Blue Wave / Red Tide

Turning the gallery into a hub for forward thinking actions during midterm election season.

2018

100 Days Action presents a series of interactive projects, installations, and events that prompt civic engagement and ask visitors to directly embody and envision the future they want to see. Part of CCA's Take Action! / A For Freedoms Event, the CCA Hubbell Street Galleries is activated by a group exhibition highlighting artists from the Bay Area and nationally whose work encourages a sense of agency and urgency in our local communities.

IT'S A SIGN!

Playing off of For Freedoms' use of billboards in public spaces and using live video mixing, we invite you to envision and draw your own messages about the midterm elections on miniature billboards.

Craft your own billboard and have it immediately installed!

WHAT COULD BE...

Since 2016, Emily Gui (San Francisco) and Katie Gui (Rhode Island) have carried small protest signs with them in order to block messaging and reimagine the political messaging they would like to see in the world.

OUR FUTURE IS RENEWABLE

100 Days Action supported artist Alessandra Mondolfi’s (Florida) artistic activation during the Climate March in September 2018. Mondolfi constructed 15 wind powered turbines and 30 solar panels for protesters to carry down the streets of San Francisco.

THE PEOPLE’S OVAL OFFICE

100 Days Action constructs a replica of the Oval Office from cardboard, inviting you to sit at the desk of the President and sign an Executive Order into law.
